SAIT Polytechnic

SAIT grant campaign '07

The objective: Get prospective students to make a longer-term choice. With a super-heated economy promising great pay with little or no training, the idea of investing in an education may seem less relevant. The solution: Use facts and stats to position SAIT as a place that creates even greater opportunities.

Transit platform posters

At some point you have to realize that life isn’t something that starts happening later – you’re in it right now. Your job, good or bad, is what you do. The physical placement of these posters becomes a metaphor for the viewer’s place and direction in life; both asking if the viewer is happy with where they are metaphorically, and showing alternatives to investigate at SAIT. The posters connect with bored commuters on their way to work, public transit cattle, and mall kids living on their parents dime.

SAIT “Giv'r” Transit poster

For a lot of blue-collar guys, the only plan is to have no plan. Sure, the fly-by-night “Littlest Hobo” school of jumping to whatever jobsite is hiring works reasonably well in a boom economy, but that won’t last forever. And when it comes time to thin out a construction crew, the guys who are just wingin’ it are the first to go. SAIT offers these guys a proper future with some job security, and presents the message in a language that the real workin’ man (especially the real workin’ man who lives in Forest Lawn) will understand.
